Airlines ban passengers who refuse to mask up. What about airports?
Although COVID-19 cases are surging, holiday flight bookings are up.
The uptick in travel is likely tied to a pent-up demand for travel and recent studies from the Department of Defense and from Harvard scientists that say air travel is as safe, or safer, than many other routine activities on the ground.
Those studies emphasize the importance of wearing a face mask at all times during travel. U.S. airlines have embraced this advice and all have policies requiring all passengers to wear face coverings.
Passengers who refuse to comply may find themselves on a carrier’s no-fly list and banned from future flights.
