Cruise news: Princess Cruises & Holland America cancel select voyages until November 2021

Holland America Line and Princess Cruises have put a pause on some of their cruises until further into next year. Princess Cruises and Holland America, which are both owned by Carnival Corporation, have said the decision has been made to comply with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s recent sail order. Princess Cruises will be pausing all cruises which are longer than seven days sailing in and out of US ports until November 1, 2021.

Due to the uncertainty about when international travel restrictions might be lifted, Princess Cruises is extending its pause in operations for cruises departing in and out of Japan until June 25, 2021.

Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises said: “We are focused on preparing our ships to meet the CDC health and safety requirements for our eventual return to service.

“We also appreciate the continued support we have received from our guests, partners and travel advisors, reinforcing for all of us why we do what we do.”

Guests booked onto any cancelled cruises will be able to receive a refundable Future Cruise Credit (FCC) which is the equivalent to 100 percent of the cruise fare paid.

Customers will also receive an additional non-refundable 25 percent bonus.

Guests are also entitled to a full refund but requests must be received by December 31, 2020 or they will be registered for FCC.

Holland America has extended its pause to include all departures up until March 31, 2021.

The line will also cancel select longer voyages, and cruises of eight days or longer that call in the United States until November 1, 2021.

Holland America made the decision as it develops its plans to meet the Framework for Conditional Sailing Order issued by the CDC.

The cruises that will be impacted are all departures from January 1 until March 31, 2021 as well as cruises of eight days or more that call at a US port until November 1, 2021.

Other cruises that will be impacted are selected longer voyages in Asia, Australia/New Zealand and South America through mid-April 2021.

Some departures will be rescheduled to comparable dates in 2022.

Guests and travel agents are being notified of cancellations and their options for future cruise credits and rebooking.

Customers are also entitled to a full refund but they must indicate whether this is their preference no later than December 31, 2020.

Seabourn also cancelled some of their 2021 voyages for two ships this week.

The cruise line said the cancellations apply to select cruises on the Seabourn Odyssey and Seabourn Quest.

For Seabourn Odyssey, it will be select voyages from January 16 until November 15, 2021 that will be cancelled.

However, seven-day Alaska or British Columbia and Pacific Coast sailings are not cancelled.

Seabourn Quest voyages that are longer than seven days and calling on a US port are cancelled from July 22 until November 6, 2021.

Josh Leibowitz, president of Seabourn said: “We’re fully committed to meeting the requirements necessary to bring guests back to our ships, including those issued by the CDC.”
